Board game ‘Jogo da Dengue’ featured on RJ TV news

Jogo da Dengue, board game developed for Multirio in 2008 was featured today on RJ TV morning news at TV Globo as part of a campaign of goverment of Rio de Janeiro to prevent Dengue Fever.

The purpose of the game is to help school kids understand how the transmissor mosquito Aedes egypt reproduces and the preventive measures that can help avoid the epidemy. Players must help Família Prudent, a typical family from Rio to fight the mosquito. Here are the friendly characters of members from Prudente family I designed for the game:

Jogo da Dengue, desenvolvido para a Multirio in 2008 apareceu hoje no RJ TV morning news na campanha de prevenção a dengue promovida pela Prefeitura do Rio de janeiro.

O objetivo do jogo é ajudar a aos alunos das escolas do município a entender como o mosquito Aedes egypt se reproduz e as medidas preventivas que podem ajudar a evitar o surto da epidemia.
Os jogadores devem ajudar a família Prudente, uma típica família carioca, a combater o mosquito. Estes são simpáticos personagens da Família prudente que desenhei para o jogo.

Design for Paul

I made this artwork inspired by Paul Mc Cartney´s verses of the song Maybe I´m Amazed, from from McCartney album:

“…Im amazed at the way you help me sing my song”

and by the many of Paul´s love songs.
The image is also a fan statement of how much I love Paul´s music and intended to pay hommage to how much his songs about love and life ( with Beatles and after) have ever inspired me.

I have made a version without my drawing of Paul on the label and could not decide which one I liked best.
I went on with choosing to post the version in with my quick drawing of Paul´s face. I drew the vinyl record with vectors, except for Paul´s face which is a quick free hand digital brush drawing. Hope you like it.

Fiz esta arte inspirada nos versos da música do Paul Mc Cartney Maybe I´m Amazed, do álbum McCartney:

“…Im amazed at the way you help me sing my song”

e em outras das muitas canções de amor compostas por Paul.
A imagem também é uma declaração do quanto eu sou fã da música do Paul e quis prestar uma homenagem suas canções ( com os Beatles e depois) sempre me inspiraram.

Eu fiz uma versão sem o desenho do Paul no rótulo do disco e não conseguia decidir qual delas eu preferia.
Acabei escolhendo postar a versão com o esboço rápido do rosto do Paul. Eu desenhei o disco de vinil com vetores, com exceção do rosto do Paul, que é um desenho rápido com pincel digital. Espero que gostem.

Made this drawing on mysketchbook some weeks ago while watching ‘Brazil vs. Côte d’Ivoire’ World Cup´s soccer game, but just decided to post it today in homage to Frida Kahlo´s birthday. You can find her complete works are avaiable online on Frida Kahlo Foundation website.

Illustration Friday #1 – Paisley

illustration for IF weekly challenge, theme: paisley.

IF is a weekly challengefor illustrators and this has been my first contribution to it. This week´s theme has been Paisley. I wanted to make a drawing that evoked not only the traditional Indian pattern, but also to the Scottish city that named it to the ocident, hence the piper in that unique Kilt.

IF é um desafio semanal para ilustradores esta foi minha primeira participação. O tema desta semana era Paisley. Eu quis fazer um desenho que evocasse não apenas a tradicional estampa indiana, mas também a cidade escocesa que batizou esta estampa no ocidente, daí o gaitista com o Kilt diferente.

Exhibition invitation ‘Caderno Coisa de Mulher’

Inspired by similar projects, Hannah 23 and Gabriela Irigoyen had this great idea of inviting women artists to creat a visual registry on the pages of a sketchbook that travelled the city of Rio de Janeiro. Now they made an exhibition( that is almost coming to the end!) with works of 14 of these artists that participated of the project in Atelier Clementina. It was funny to create different characters to represent the musicians in this illustration sketch, based on faces that remained in my memory. This drawing was made in 2006 but only now I realised that the guy with the cavaquinho resembles a friend from college whom I dont hear from for long and that also played…cavaquinho!

Foi divertido criar tipinhos bem diferentes para representar os músicos neste estudo de ilustração, baseados em lembranças de rostos que ficaram na minha memória.O desenho é de 2006, mas só agora me dei conta que o cara do cavaquinho guarda alguma semelhança com um amigo dos tempos faculdade de quem há muito não tenho notícias e que também tocava … cavaquinho!
